Disaster Awareness Week 2010
This annual event focuses on specific regional risks, like earthquakes, floods and tsunami, and reinforces the importance of being ready for a disaster.

In 2010, the week runs from 10-16 October 2010 and will include a programme of activity for schools. Specific information on the national campaign is available on the Ministry for Civil Defence & Emergency Management website.

Group Meetings
The Hawke’s Bay Civil Defence Emergency Management Group meets at least twice a year and the agenda and minutes are posted on the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council website.

2010 Group Exercise Work Programme
The Coordinating Executive Group has committed to a programme of exercise activities over 2010. This will include participation in the national, multi-agency civil defence execise as follows:

20 October 2010 - Exercise Tangaroa is a exercise which will focus on the national response to a distant-source tsunami.
