Exciting News - Napier citizens can now receive free Civil Defence text alerts in an emergency, thanks to Napier City Council's new Twitter account. The texting service is an additional way of alerting the public that there is a Civil Defence emergency and the Napier Emergency Operations Centre has been activated. There is a caution though, in any event remember to listen to your local radio station and don't rely just on these text alerts as it can be unreliable at times.
